Our Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Timber is one of the most sustainable building materials. To ensure responsible sourcing, we obtain our timber from well-managed forests where tree replanting practices are strictly followed. Responsible sourcing contributes significantly to sustainable forest management and promotes the market for timber products that are certified to come from legal and sustainable sources. As importers and buyers of timber and timber products, we are deeply committed to ensuring that our supplies originate from responsible sources. Our chosen suppliers share our vision of a sustainable timber trade and operate under internationally recognised certification bodies. To uphold these standards, we are members of Timber Development UK and implement chain of custody (CoC) schemes certified by both the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®-C102303) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC/16-37-556). Independent annual audits validate our adherence to environmental standards. Please ask about our FSC® certified products.

Responsible Purchasing Policy

At Morgan Forest Products, we are proud members of Timber Development UK (TDUK). Our Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) aligns with the UK Timber Regulation (UKTR), which prohibits the placement of illegally harvested timber and timber products on the UK market. Our RPP encompasses the following commitments:

TDUK Code of Conduct: We fully embrace the Timber Development UK Code of Conduct and apply the Environmental Code of Practice to all our wood procurement activities.

Legality: Our company is dedicated to purchasing timber solely from legal sources. We actively seek evidence of compliance from our suppliers through our due diligence process, ensuring they operate in accordance with the laws of their respective countries.

Responsibility: Recognising our responsibility to the environment, customers, suppliers, and staff, we are committed to conducting our commercial activities based on well-managed forests. We strictly adhere to the prohibition of trading timber species listed under Appendix 1 of the CITES legislation. For all other CITES listed timber species, we obtain the necessary documents to facilitate responsible trade.

Traceability and Supplier Monitoring: We conduct a comprehensive Risk Assessment for all our suppliers, as detailed in our RPP. This assessment provides transparent information about the origins of the raw materials used in wood product manufacturing. The information obtained guides our purchasing decisions and is available to independent verifiers upon request.

Reporting and Audit: We conduct annual reports to our appointed auditors who assess and verify our progress and compliance with our Policy. Stakeholders can request a copy of our Responsible Purchasing Policy Company Commitments, which is available to all interested parties.

Management Structure:  We have appointed a Director responsible for implementing our Policy and ensuring that environmental considerations are consistently addressed at the highest level of management. We ensure that all employees involved in timber purchasing are knowledgeable about our Policy and its commitments, providing them with appropriate education and training for its effective implementation.

Continuous Improvement:  We actively collaborate with relevant trade organisations, non- governmental organisations (NGOs), and governments to enhance our purchasing policy continually. Our commitment involves increasing the proportion of timber and timber products originating from legal and sustainably managed forests, following a stepwise approach.
